Note: It is recommended to keep a plain notebook, sketchpad, or binder to hold the exercise work described in this text. Avoid using much method or giving definite directions for this year. Simply show how by example and encourage earnest effort. Talk little, and draw much.

Study the lesson image, and answer the following.

  1. Which is farther away, the plain apple or the sweet apple? The plain apple or the sour apple?
  2. Which is the nearer, the plain apple or the sour apple? The plain apple or the sweet apple?

Ask children to point to:

  • The ball farthest away from the viewer.
  • The ball nearest the viewer.
  • The ball farthest to the right.
  • The ball farthest to the left.
  • The sweet apple.
  • The ball to the right of the sweet apple.
  • Any two balls to the left of the sweet apple.
  • The plain apple.
  • The ball to the right of the plain apple.
  • The ball to the left of the plain apple.
  • The sour apple.
  • The ball to the left of the sour apple.
  • Any two balls to the right of the sour apple.

Draw the sweet, sour, and plain apples in your notebook.
